IC2163

WHAT IS A GALAXY?

A galaxy is grouping of stars, celestial bodies and cosmic matter that is concentrated in a certain region of space by the effect of gravitational attraction and constitutes a unit in the universe.

HOW GALAXY FORMED?

According to the first galaxies were formed by the collapse of vast clouds of gas and dust due to their own force of gravity , allowing stars to from.

IC2163

IC2163

This is its energy spectrum from JS9 with its most importants energy peaks.

.

Then, I have calculated each peak's percentatge and find out which elements they contain.

I have used this formula:

.

-PEAK A: 455 mm2/ 1138 mm2 · 100 = 39,98%  (Al) Aluminium

-PEAK B: 480 mm2/ 1138 mm2 · 100 = 42,18 % (Si) Silicon

-PEAK C: 100 mm2 / 1138 mm2 · 100 = 8,79%  (S) Sulphur

TOTAL AREA: 1138 mm2

(Al) Aluminium: 39,98%

(Si) Silicon: 42,18 %

(S) Sulphur: 8,79%

With the help of this website I was able to find out what element each peak corresponds to:

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/hyde.html#c4

ALUMINIUM

.

SILICON

.

SULPHUR

.

I have assumed that these peaks are the elements that I have indicated, but it may be that they aren't these and that it is incorrect because, in this case, the electrons jump from layer 3 to layer 2 and this means that the temperature has to be similar environmental, and therefore is low. But if we increase the layers, the electron volts go up, and for this reason it may be that my analysis is incorrect.

I compare my spectrum and results with others professional astronomers:
- The spectral region of IC2163 contains aluminium, sulphur and also silicone but this element doesn't appear in scientist journals.
The webs where I found this information have been the following:
Title: The Interaction between Spiral Galaxies IC 2163 and NGC 2207. I. Observations
Authors: Elmegreen, D. M., Kaufman, M., Brinks, E., Elmegreen, B. G., & Sundin, M.
Comparison:
  • My results with those of other scientists agree that this stellar object is made of aluminium, silicon, sulphur.
  • In addition, I have found that this galaxy is also formed by slicon. I have tried searching more scientific articles on google scholar to see if it, actually, contains these elements, but I have not found any more elements that constitute this nebula.
So I have opted to put these elements.  Probably the one that is wrong is me, as they are scientists and have studied this before giving the result.
