NGC2295

WHAT IS A GALAXY?

A galaxy is grouping of stars, celestial bodies and cosmic matter that is concentrated in certain region of space by the effect of gravitational attraction and constitutes a unit in the universe.

HOW IS GALAXY FORMED?

According to the first galaxies were formed by the collapse of vast clouds of gas and dust due to their own force of gravity, allowing stars to form.

NGC2295

NGC2295

This is its energy spectrum from JS9 with its most importants energy peaks.

Then, I have calculated each peak's percentatge and find out which elements they contain.

I have used this formula:

.

-PEAK 1: 2446 mm2/ 84740 mm2 · 100 = 2,89 %  (C) Carbon

-PEAK 2: 2891 mm2/ 84740 mm2 · 100 = 3,41 %  (O) Oxygen

-PEAK 3: 13265 mm2 / 84740 mm2 · 100 = 7,68 %  (Cr) Chromium

-PEAK 4: 4437 mm2 / 84740 mm2 · 100 = 6, 11%  (Eu) Europium

TOTAL AREA: 84740 mm2

(C) Carbon: 2,89 %

(O) Oxygen: 3,41%

(Cr) Chromium: 7,68%

(Eu) Europium: 6,11%

With the help of this website I was able to find out what element each peak corresponds to:

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/hyde.html#c4

CARBON

OXYGEN

.

CHROMIUM

EUROPIUM

.

I have assumed that these peaks are the elements that I have indicated, but it may be that they aren't these and that it is incorrect because, in this case, the electrons jump from layer 3 to layer 2 and this means that the temperature has to be similar environmental, and therefore is low. But if we increase the layers, the electron volts go up, and for this reason it may be that my analysis is incorrect.

I compare my spectrum and results with others professional astronomers:
- The spectral region of NGC2295 contains carbon, oxygen, chromium and I have seen that it also contains europium althought this element doesn't appear in scientific journals.
The webs where I found this information have been the following:
Title: Symmetric Galactic Nebulae. II.
Authors: Johnson, H. M.
Comparison:
  • My results with those of other scientist agree that this stellar object is made of carbon, oxygen and chronium but not with europium.
  • In addition, I have found that this galaxy is also formed by europium. I have tried searching more scientific articles on google scholar to see if it, actually, contains these elements, but I have not found any more elements that constitute this galaxy.
So I have opted to put these elements.
Probably the one that is wrong is me, as they are scientists and have studied this before giving the result.
